Since my husband and I joined the Tea Party Patriots of Western Oakland County we are becoming more actively involved in the United States political system, as well as our local and state governance. Beyond FaceBook posts. As knowledageable, aware, informed and ever-learning citizens.
This is an exemplary organization. Founded on Constitutional principles and Republic freedoms which were themselves designed by our Founding Fathers to be timeless. They don’t get old and they never fade. The Tea Party is a grass roots movement of true American activism, one that I, as a Christian and a Conservative, can fully support.
I want to help clear up some misconceptions, miscommunications and even lies that are circulating about the Tea Party. So this week when The NAACP sent out a scathing proclamation claiming that the Tea Party movement is a racist organization, it did not go by unnoticed. It actually gives the Tea Party organization and its founders a great opportunity to once again, tell us what the Tea Party movement is all about. And what it is not about. For real. Not just talking the talk, walking the walk.
Here’s what it says on our (TPP of WOC) Home page and this is the same message that is taught and passed on down through the “ranks.” New members and original members alike are told if you can’t align yourself with these Core Values, you should not become a member or involved in the Tea Party. So read, and then you decide if this is a racist organization.
This is why I am proud to be a member of the National Tea Party Patriots movement and the Tea Party Patriots of Western Oakland County:
Our mission is fully aligned with the national non-partisan Tea Party movement focused on reducing our excessive government. We will work locally in Western Oakland County of Michigan to attract, educate, organize and mobilize fellow citizens to help secure public policy consistent with our three core values.
* Fiscal Responsibility
* Constitutionally Limited Government
* Free Markets
Fiscal Responsibility: Fiscal Responsibility by government honors and respects the freedom of the individual to spend the money that is the fruit of their own labor. A constitutionally limited government, designed to protect the blessings of liberty, must be fiscally responsible or it must subject its citizenry to high levels of taxation that unjustly restrict the liberty our Constitution was designed to protect. Such runaway deficit spending as we now see in Washington D.C. compels us to take action as the increasing national debt is a grave threat to our national sovereignty and the personal and economic liberty of future generations.
Constitutionally Limited Government: We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land. We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. Like the founders, we support states’ rights for those powers not expressly stated in the Constitution. As the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, in all other matters we support the personal liberty of the individual, within the rule of law.
Free Markets: A free market is the economic consequence of personal liberty. The founders believed that personal and economic freedom were indivisible, as do we. Our current government’s interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty. Therefore, we support a return to the free market principles on which this nation was founded and oppose government intervention into the operations of private business.
Tea Party Patriots, Inc. as an organization believes in the Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. Tea Party Patriots, Inc. is a non-partisan grassroots organization of individuals united by our core values derived from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers. We recognize and support the strength of grassroots organization powered by activism and civic responsibility at a local level.
We hold that the United States is a republic conceived by its architects as a nation whose people were granted “unalienable rights” by our Creator. Chiefly among these are the rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The Tea Party Patriots stand with our founders, as heirs to the republic, to claim our rights and duties which preserve their legacy and our own. We hold, as did the founders, that there exists an inherent benefit to our country when private property and prosperity are secured by natural law and the rights of the individual.
There you have it. If you can read even .001% of racism into this then you have a serious problem and need to get help. Do it and let the rest of us get on with the business of helping to elect responsible, accountable Conservative leaders who value the very practical ideals and principles outlined above.
No Place for Racism
Am I saying that everyone in the Tea Party is pure, 100% Patriotic, with no selfish motives or agenda and no racial prejudice? No of course not, the Tea Party is made up of humans, Americans. There are bound to be a few who harbor racial prejudices. And have there ever been people who showed up at a Tea Party rally with an inappropriate sign containing racial slurs? I bet there have. And in every case I know of those people were told to either destroy those signs or leave. Racial epitaphs and hatred have no place in a movement of American freedom.
The fact is, despite their proclamation, not one NAACP official has yet to produce any hard evidence of racism being displayed at a Tea Party Rally. In fact, they have offered a $100,000 bonus to any of their members who can produce legitimate video or photo evidence to support their claim. So where is this hard evidence? It doesn’t exist, in fact the $100,000 bonus has not even been awarded. What does that tell you?
Fairness and Equality
But the NAACP speaks out against racial injustice….When several different New Black Panther members were shown on video hurling horrible disgusting threats against all whites (crackers), ranting how all white mothers and their babies should be killed, what did the NAACP have to say about that? They denounced that, right? Nothing. Not one word. Ok, so they can have fringe elements that make death threats against the white race, especially mothers and babies and it’s ok. See this video: “You want freedom? You gonna have to kill some crackas!”
And on election night 2008 when several New Black Panther thugs with billy clubs stood in front of and blocked the doorway to a polling center in PA (this IS recorded on video) and the DOJ recently dropped all charges in the lawsuit that was already WON, what did the NAACP have to say about that? They must have made a similar proclamation against this blatant violation of our Constitutional right to vote, right? Silence. Rev. Al Sharpton excused them as being the fringe element of the New Black Panthers. Every group has its extremists. And the NBPP can have “fringe elements” who block entry to a polling place for the 2008 Presidential election, and it’s ok.
NAACP is More Out of Touch Than Our Politicians
My question is, what is wrong with the NAACP? Why are they determined to be the mouthpiece echoing the extreme Liberal Left’s constant droning whine of “Racism” every time a Conservative questions the policies and legislation of the Progressive Left-wing pedagogues in power?
National Association for the Advancement of Whom? No one is advancing here.
The only accomplishment they can point to is they are serving to distract the American people from the real issues at hand: spiraling national debit, sky-high unemployment, a flailing economy, a horrible health care act that the American people do not want and is not funded, illegal immigrants controlling our national borders while the Federal governemnt sues a state that is trying to defend its citizens, the gulf oil spill ruining 4 states’ economies and hundreds of thousands of lives….need I go on?
Yeah, not important. Instead let’s focus on undocumented, unfounded racial slurs on a sign at a rally, that’s productive.
